Maria Callas Poster by punksafetypin Maria Callas Poster by punksafetypin
Typography II - 2009
Poster - 29,7 x 84 cm

Photoshop CS4 + Illustrator CS4

This is the third time I take this class... and I always fail this group assignment. :( Let's see how it goes this year. I made the poster -and I'm not completely happy with it- and my two classmates are working on the CD.

I like the concept, the placement of the dates across from the 1/2 violin is eye-catching. Agree about reducing the swirls but still like it. Good luck!

I like the design, I really do.
But I think there are a little too many swirls under Callas and next do Diva, and under Gira Argentina and repeating again under 10-29NOV. It diverts the attention from the important part, the information.

Also, is there a reason for the colors? Did you have to use those, specifically? Cause they don't work very well together, especially the red and green.

Oh, I'd also eliminate the little swirls on the bottom next to Coca-Cola and bla bla bla (can't recognize or read the last one). You could put more space between each logotype, so it still look balanced with the rest.

I hope I explained myself well enough... =X

I totally agree with everything you said. But it was a group assignment, so not all of the decisions were mine. I didn't like the colors very much... I said the green-red-white was too "Christmas", but my classmates wanted it like this, so... The swirls next to the logos were because the are supposed to integrate with the rest of the stuff, so if they were just sitting there, the teachers would probably say something. I wanted to do this assignment by myself, since I didn't get good grades the last two times (and I think this one won't be the exception), but the teachers were really emphatic and wanted us to work in teams. :(
